BasicOps can be integrated with Google Calendars so that tasks and events can be shared between them. This will provide a lot of efficiencies for your team.
This article will show you how to:
- Choose which Google Calendars to show in the BasicOps calendar.
- Sync BasicOps with a Google Calendar, so that Tasks can be displayed and edited in your Google Calendar.
Note: Google Calendar events that are shown in BasicOps can’t be edited.
Choosing your Google Calendars to show in BasicOps
It’s very simple to include your Google calendar events in your BasicOps Calendar. You only need to tell BasicOps which ones to include.
Steps:
- Click on your profile photo at the top of the right sidebar.
- Under Account Settings, click on the General icon.
- Under Connect to your Calendar, select your calendar by clicking on the Google icon at the bottom of the page.
- Follow the login instructions as prompted.
- Click Select Calendars below the calendar icons.
- At the top of the Select window, under My Calendars select the calendars that you wish to include in BasicOps by using the checkboxes. Then click on Save.
Note: You can select one or more Google Calendars to show in the BasicOps calendar.
Your Google Calendars events and meetings will now show in your BasicOps calendar. The image below shows Google calendar events in a project.
When an event is updated in Google it will automatically be updated in BasicOps and in real time.
Note: It is not possible to update events directly in BasicOps.
Showing Google Calendar events in BasicOps
If you wish to show Google Calendar events in BasicOps, you must have your filter section set to include calendar events. To do this you must click on the filter icon in the upper right, and then select include calendar events. Selecting exclude calendar events will block any Google calendar events from being included in the BasicOps calendar.

Syncing BasicOps tasks with a Google Calendar
You can sync your tasks with due dates to one Google Calendar. Then, the calendar will be updated in real time when a task changes. If a task is updated in BasicOps Calendar, the update will be reflected in Google Calendar. Likewise, if a task due date, title, or description is updated in Google Calendar, it will automatically be updated in BasicOps.
How to sync tasks to a Google Calendar
- Click on your profile photo at the top of the right sidebar.
- Under Account Settings, click on the General icon.
- Make sure you are connected to Google Calendars. See Choosing your Google Calendars to show in BasicOps.
- Click Select Calendars below the calendar icons.
- Select the calendar that you wish to sync with and click Save.
In the example below, a task was just assigned a new due date in BasicOps and then shows in the Google Calendar.
As another example, if you mark a task complete in BasicOps, this will show as a gray checkbox in Google Calendars.
Updating a task from the Google Calendar
When a task due date, title and description are updated in the Google Calendar it will be updated in BasicOps in real time. In the example below, we see how to update a task from within Google calendar.
First, click on the task in Google Calendar. In the popup window, click on the pencil icon to edit.
The next window from within Google Calendar will show you more details about the task. Here you can change the name, the due date, the description, and whether the task repeats or not.
Your updated task will appear in BasicOps in the task list and in the Calendar.
How to remove a task from Google Calendar
In Google Calendar you delete the task and the due date is removed.
- In BasicOps, select the task you would like to remove and clear the due date.
- The task will be removed from your external calendar.
Note: If you delete a task in your calendar, it will only remove the due date in BasicOps, not the task itself.
