BasicOps gives you the ability to categorize and organize your projects in different groups. A group can represent a time period, a specific step of a project, a client, or whatever you want!
This article will show you how to:
- Create a project group
- Add projects to your group
- Rename or delete a group
Creating a project group
To add a project group to your workspace, you must first click on Projects in the left hand panel. This will take you to the project list. From within the project list click on the Add Project down arrow , and then the Add Projects Group dropdown menu. You will see the Add Projects Group dialog box. Enter the group name here.
In the following image we’ve added the project group Q1.
Adding Projects to your group
All projects are considered independent until they are assigned to a group. So you will next want to add your projects to a group. There are two ways to do this.
- Add project through the Add Projects dialog box
- Drag existing projects from existing project groups
In the following image, we have added two existing projects to our new group by dragging and dropping them. Note that the project group now appears in the left hand panel.
Renaming or deleting a group
Once you have created your group and added projects to it, you can rename or delete it simply by clicking on the 3 dots on the right hand side of the group name.
Select Rename Projects Group and enter a new group name.
If you wish to remove a project group select Delete group from the dropdown menu. In the dialog box, click on the Delete Group button. Note that existing projects will be moved to the Independent Project group.
Who can see project groups
Only users who are a team member to at least one project within a group, can see that group.
For example, the following image shows what a team member will see if they are a member of a group project. The Q1 group is displayed because they are a member of the Website project which has already been added to that group. If they were not a team member of that project, Q1 would not be displayed.
Note: Clients do not have any visibility to groups. They will only see the list of projects which they have access to.
