If you have been using a different project management tool, and would like to transfer your project data over to BasicOps, you have the ability to do so. BasicOps will import data from popular applications such as monday.com, Trello, and Asana.
This article describes how to import your projects from these data sources.
There are two methods to initiate a project import:
- Clicking the + icon next to the Projects menu and selecting import
- Selecting Import from the Admin menu
Importing from the Project menu
The first method is done by clicking on the + icon next to Projects on the left hand side panel. A popup window will be displayed entitled Add Project. Select Import Existing Project from the menu.
You will then see the Import Existing Project popup window as shown below.
At the top of the window you have the option to drag and drop a spreadsheet file to BasicOps. This is done by simply clicking a spreadsheet file in your file system, holding the mouse button down, and dragging and dropping the file into the import window.
At the bottom of the window you have the option to import your project from three different applications - Asana, monday.com, and Trello. Select the application you would like to import from by clicking on its icon.
Next, you may be asked to authorize the import. Click yes and your import will begin.
Importing from the Admin menu
The second method to initiate an import is from the Admin option on the left hand side panel. You will see the following screen.
Select the application from which you wish to import data by clicking on the import button.
Importing from Asana or Trello
If you select Asana or Trello, you will need to authorize BasicOps to have access to your data. Click on the ‘Allow’ button when prompted. (If you haven’t signed in to the application before starting the import, you may have to sign in first.)
Click on yes and your import will start. You will see the following screen.
After a few moments, your data transfer will be complete.
Tip: We recommend that data be imported only once to avoid duplicating information and data.
Special monday.com Instructions
If you select monday.com, you will need to use an API token to connect and access your data.
monday.com requires the use of an API token in order for you to access and import data.
To generate the API token, you will first need to log in to monday.com. Then you will need to click on your user icon. From the user menu, select Admin, API, and then copy the generated API token.
To back to BasicOps and start the monday.com import. You will be prompted to enter the token. After you enter the token in BasicOps, click on Start Import and your project data will start transferring.
The following image shows the start of an import from “monday.com”.
