Subtasks help you break down a task into more manageable, smaller parts. Use subtasks to split work between you and others or to simply create structure within a task.
A subtask is just like a task: Any team member can create a subtask, assign anyone to the subtask, and add as much detail as you can for a task.
You can create a subtask in the Tasks list — just like you create a task. You can then drag it to the task that it’s a part of. (We call that the “parent task.”) Or you can create a subtask in the task details area of its parent task.
To create a subtask:
- Select the task.
- In task details, click the Subtasks tab.
- Click the + icon.
- Enter a name and press Enter.
Note: Subtasks are automatically assigned to you. To reassign the subtask, click the avatar and select a user from the dropdown.
